There is no better time for remembering your friends and customers than after the Holidays…even if you were not able to send Christmas, Hanukkah and Holiday greetings.  This is especially true if you live north of the Mason Dixon Line. The weather this year has been trying….at best.

Businesses should not miss this opportunity.   If you didn’t send out Thanksgiving cards, I’d highly recommend the next best choice is custon, photo New Years cards, and now the sooner the better. I encourage you to get them out before the last week of January or you might as well settle for Valentines Day cards.

The best bet is using a custom, photo card and if you can find something with a sense of humor, all the better.  Just remember your customers come in all sizes, religious and cultural beliefs so you need to be atuned to good taste. But humor is appreciated.

Make sure the message comes through loud and clear how much you appreciate your customers. I know some people who include a message similar to this; “I hope you feel that we’ve provided you with the kind of service that let you know how much we appreciate you. If that is true, please be assured that we will take care of your friends and family just as well.”

WARNING: If this is the first card you’ve ever sent out to your customers, I DON’T RECOMMEND USING THE LINE ABOVE.  That’s okay, IF you have stayed in touch and sent out card before.

But customers (and friends and family) will respond far better with out any kind of discount coupon or sales pitch. Let them know that you appreciate them….as people. People to people is the key.

For 2009, please start collecting the month and day of your customer’s birthdays and their children, as well. (I encourage you collect the year for the children.) Then send them an age appropriate birthday card.

If this sounds like a lot of work, I know of a Contact Manager that is all any business needs, and it also sends out greeting cards – not e-card – too.  This contact manager will send you out a reminder a week before the date, and you can have the cards go out automatically, if you want. I think it’s the best custom greeting card system ever!

You can also use an index file and do it all by hand, if you’d rather. The point is DO IT!
